This project seeks to develop a joint angle sensor for a robotic cricket, which is part of a larger project with Case Western Reserve University. The joint angle sensor is an array of ciliary micromechanical structures that curl up to 1 mm out of plane. When the cricket joint moves, a mechanical slider moves across the cilia. Stress in thecilia is then measured with on-chip piezoresistive sensors.
