Bio: Shoji TOMINAGA is a professor at Graduate School of Advanced Integration Science, Chiba University. His research interests include color imaging, illuminant estimation, multispectral image analysis, and color image rendering. He is an editorial board member of Color Research and Application, an associate editor of the Journal of Electronic Imaging, an executive committee member of International Colour Association (AIC), and co-chair of the Computational Color Imaging Workshop (CCIW). He is a Life Fellow of IEEE, and a Fellow of IEICE, IS&T, and SPIE.

Abstract: Multi-spectral imaging technology has a wide range of applications in computer vision, color engineering, and imaging industry. Most of current spectral imaging systems are passive in that a spectrum filtration mechanism is placed at the sensor side. In contrast, this presentation presents a new active multi-spectral imaging system that controls the illumination spectrum with synchronous capture. In its applications, I will mention (1) spectral reflectance recovery, (2) tri-stimulus imager, and (3) exact color image production.
