Drew Bagnell, associate professor of robotics, is among the latest recipients of the Okawa Research Grant, which is awarded by the Okawa Foundation for Information and Telecommunications.

The grants sponsor research in the United States, China, Japan and Korea in eight topic areas pertaining to information and telecommunications. Bagnell’s grant will help fund his work in machine learning for intelligent robotics.

Recipients from Carnegie Mellon in recent years have included Siddhartha Srinivasa, associate professor of robotics; Seyoung Kim, assistant professor in the Lane Center for Computational Biology, and Adrien Treuille, assistant professor of robotics and computer science.
