Agenda for Sept 26 meeting

  • Aaron Morris/Juan Pablo Gonzales for organizing the rafting trip
  • Many volunteers, but especially Nidhi and Dave F for helping to clean out the lounge
• Dec5
  Dec5 is attempting to formalize its role with respect to SCS vs CSD, and has a proposal for organization/funding structure.
• T-shirts
  First batch of t-shirts are in.
• Office space policy proposal
  Need to vote on approving/rejecting/amending an office space policy
• Information dissemination
  Some concerns have been expressed about communication between the RI administration and the students, specifically regarding:
  • CMU's new campus in Qatar, and how Chuck is involved
  • New faculty being hired
  Also, there have been some RoboOrg communication concerns, specifically
  • New students don't know what RoboOrg is/what we do
  • Rumors are going around that we're broke, and that's why we haven't had happy hours recently
• Post Seminar Receptions
  We have $3000/year to do these. We've been spending upwards of $700/reception over the past year (~250 in posters, $450 in food)

  Posters have already been discussed. Are we satisfied with only having about 6 of these per year?

  Also, how do we want to enforce budgeting? There is no real penalty for going over budget at the moment...ideas?

• Funding for Ice Hockey
  Tom Stepleton wants RoboOrg to fund rink time for the hockey group
• Speaker for Homecoming seminars
  We've been asked if we could find volunteers to speak for a combined hour on what's going on in the RI. Oct 25, 9-10 AM
• Cool Person Award
  Suzanne wasn't at the Gala, she wasn't at the picnic. How should we present the award?
