Additional Major - How to Apply

Generally, students should apply in their freshman year - but we allow admissions for students in their sophomore year provided they meet the requirements and their schedule would allow. The deadline is 1 February and decisions should be made in time for fall registration during their freshman year (to start in their sophomore year). The materials include:

  • Full name and email address
  • Home college, GPA, year you intend to graduate, and list of all declared Majors and Minors
  • Statement of purpose (maximum 1 page, single spaced, to articulate why the student wants to purse the robotics major)
  • Proposed schedule of required courses
The Robotics Institute is part of the School of Computer Science, Carnegie Mellon University.
