Overview
Project LISTEN, one of National Science Foundation's "Nifty Fifty" research projects, is developing an automated Reading Tutor that helps children learn to read. It uses speech recognition to listen to them read aloud, and responds with spoken and graphical feedback. Automated field studies evaluate the efficacy of alternative tutorial interventions by embedding experiments within the Reading Tutor, which has been used by hundreds of children at several elementary schools. See our official project page for more information and a complete personnel list.
