|We are investigating the role and cognitive mechanisms of rhythm and synchrony in human-robot social interaction. One of our targets is nonverbal interactive dance-oriented play between children and a creature-like robot, Keepon. We present here the background of our research, the robot we are currently using for this research, techniques for the perception and generation of rhythmic actions, and some of the facts we observed in our preliminary experiments with children.|
