Project Description

Human social interaction involves the temporal coordination of rhythmic communicative behaviors. BeatBots is a project to develop technologies and methodologies for human-robot interaction that incorporate the rhythmic properties of human interactive behavior. We are developing small nonverbal robots capable of participating in dance-oriented play with children. Our architecture enables the robots to perceive and generate rhythms, with the goal of intelligently using these rhythms to anticipate and guide changes in dynamic, compelling interactions.
