Project Description

The goal of this project is to develop a team of inexpensive, reliable robots for our research. Currently, we are focused on building prototype robot hardware and integrating it with the TeamBots architecture. The robot will be fully autonomous with wireless communication and color vision. Onboard control is provided by Java-based software running on a Linux microcomputer. Color images are captured by a miniature color video camera and a video capture card. Real-time color blob detection is provided by CMVision.

Once a successful prototype is demonstrated (Dec 15, 1999) we will scale up to 5-10 robots.

We successfully demonstrated Mia Minnow, an autonomous soccer robot, during the 2000 Workshop on Interactive Robotics and Entertainment (WIRE-2000).
