Research Interests

My research interests include driver monitoring and human computer Interactions in a mobile environment. The long-term goals of this research are:

to establish a solid scientific foundation regarding human fatigue (drowsiness or sleepiness) and human attention;
to develop practical means for measuring various forms of human inattention in a driving environment; and,
to apply this knowledge to the design of a multimedia driver-vehicle interface.

This proposed interface would act as a Smart-Copilot assisting the driver to maintain attention on the safety critical driving task whether he/she is on a long tedious drive late at night, or attempting to communicate while driving in rush hour traffic.
