Research interests

I am interested in developing interfaces between mammalian nervous systems and external devices in order to reverse and repair damage to the nervous system. My current project focuses on nanostructured conductive polymer coatings as a method to improve the performance of chronically implanted neural stimulating and recording electrodes.

Research interest keywords

bioengineering, medical applications, medical robotics, MEMS, microrobotics, and tissue engineering

Past Labs & Groups

Microelectromechanical Systems Laboratory - We are developing miniature sensor and actuator systems using integrated-circuit fabrication processes.
Neurobotics Laboratory - Investigating neural control of movement, brain-machine interface, and devices for rehabilitation, motor enhancement, and entertainment.

Past Projects

Silicon/Neuron Interface - We are developing a robust, low-power microengineered interface between living neurons and silicon circuitry.
