Research interests

My primary project is Preoperative Planning for Total Hip Replacement surgery. This planning includes implant sizing and orientation decisions along with an interactive range of motion simulator allowing the surgeon to predict the kinematic limitation of the post-operative joint.

I also work on automated segmentation/model generation, the Image Overlay project, and the interoperative HipNav and KneeNav systems.

Research interest keywords

medical applications, medical imaging, and medical robotics

Additional Interests and Responsibilities

Though I remain connected to the lab through common research, I currently am the Director of Software Development for CASurgica, Inc., a spin-off company working towards commercialization of technology developed in the MRCAS/ICAOS lab.

Current Labs & Groups [Past labs]

Medical Robotics and Computer Assisted Surgery - Researching planning (medical image computing, simulation) and execution (intraoperative sensing and actuation) technologies for computer-assisted surgery.

Current Projects [Past projects]

3D Image Overlay - X-ray vision has always been the dream of surgeons; Image Overlay is the next best thing.
Hip Navigation System - Preoperative and intraoperative planning and execution system for high-precision total hip replacement.
Hip Range of Motion - Preoperative planning system for total hip replacement
