Research interests

My research interests are in pattern recognition and machine learning with specific interests in their application to biometric learning and space-time pattern recognition. I have been specifically developing state of the art face and voice verification algorithms by employing generative models and theories on generalization in pattern recognition and Bayesian adaptation. I have also been studying problems in space-time pattern recognition such as audio-visual speech processing and facial expression recognition. I am welled versed in many aspects of pattern recognition and biometrics, and am extremely interested in how developments in these areas can improve and develop our knowledge of broader problems in artificial intelligence (AI).

Current Labs & Groups

Face Group - Robust detection, recognition, and tracking of human faces with automated analysis of expressions

Current Projects [Past projects]

Face Recognition Across Pose - Recognizing people from different poses.
Facial Expression Analysis - Automatic facial expression encoding, extraction and recognition, and expression intensity estimation for the applications of MPEG4 application: teleconferencing, human-computer interaction/interface.
Generic Active Appearance Models - We are pursuing techniques for non-rigid face alignment based on Constrained Local Models (CLMs) that exhibit superior generic performance over conventional AAMs.
