Research interests

My primary responsibility is art and creative direction for a diverse variety of media produced through the Robotics Academy, which is the educational outreach for the National Robotics Engineering Center.

Our product line of CD-Roms and other material is disseminated nationally and internationally. We look to maintain an aesthetic that supports our teaching mission, helps distinguish our level of quality, and is appealing, engaging, and concise in its ability to communicate and teach. This aesthetic covers multimedia releases, websites, workbooks, videos, and print and display material.

I am also involved directly with the business development team of the NREC, supplying support across the same venues. It's very satisfying to be a part of these teams, and enjoy the synergy of collaboration.

Photoshop is the software I know inside out, followed closely by Fireworks, Indesign, and Final Cut Pro (I'm a Mac aficionado in a sea of PCs....). I also use Dreamweaver, Illustrator, Flash, and the usual gang of 'lesser' office programs.

The following list purports to summarize my professional skill set: artist / designer / illustrator / copy writer / cartoonist / script writer / photographer / filmmaker / songwriter.

Additional Interests and Responsibilities

I am on the Board of Directors of the Nine Mile Run Watershed Assocation, and a member of the Mon-Fayette Express Design Advisory Team. I have produced a music CD, and independent science fiction movie, and have done work for Disney Interactive, Kennywood, and iKnowthat.com, to name a few.
