Biography

I received a PhD. in Robotics from CMU in 2003. I am currently a postdoc at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and a visiting researcher at CMU.

Research interests

I do research in computer vision, 3D modeling, and, more recently, neuroscience. The overarching theme of my research over the past several years has been using shape characteristics to make inferences about objects and scenes as they appear in a variety of image modalities. Currently, I am working on predicting risk of Alzheimer's Disease based on shape analysis of compartments in the brain; previously, I used shape properties to recognize complex objects in photographs and range data. I also worked on making 3D models from unstructured sets of range images.

Research interest keywords

3-D perception, computer vision, geometric modeling, machine learning, medical applications, medical imaging, and object recognition

Additional Interests and Responsibilities

I recently started helping to maintain the Computer Vision Home Page . I also maintain the Wiry Object Recognition Database.
