Research interests

I pursue mobility, manipulation and sensing design challenges in robotic planetary exploration. I'm a generalist but my background is primarily in spacecraft mechanisms, systems engineering and planetary science. I'm currently on the design team developing an R&D vehicle for NASA to field test a lunar rover concept. The motivation is to explore a permanently shadowed crater on the lunar south pole that may hold large amounts of water ice.

Research interest keywords

design, field robotics, manipulation, mechanisms, mobile robots, and space robotics

Additional Interests and Responsibilities

I'm also interested in kinetic and responsive art and architecture.

Current Projects

Lunar Ice Discovery Initiative - Icebreaker is a proposed mission to explore the south pole of the Moon.
