Lab Description

Shape Deposition Manufacturing (SDM) is a solid freeform fabrication process which systemically combines material deposition with material removal processes. Our mission is to:

  1. enable the rapid manufacture of high-quality, complex designs which could not be practically fabricated with conventional manufacturing processes
  2. take advantage of the vast, existing CNC milling machine infrastructure throughout the world by creating SFF processes which can be implemented by simply adding deposition apparatus to a CNC machine.
