There are two levels of publication search: simple and advanced. The simple search allows you to find publications based on author, title, abstract, or subject keyword. The advanced search allows up to four of these simple searches to be "anded" together and provides additional capabilities of selecting case sensitivity and searching by date range and center name.

Author search operates by the same rules as the people search, except that case-sensitivity can be controlled independently via the Case sensitive checkbox.

By default, title, abstract, and subject keyword searches will look for all of the words or phrases in the search string in any order. Each word can make a partial match, so a search for navigat will match navigate and navigation. Phrases are indicated by enclosing several words in double quotes. Unlike individual words, phrases must match exactly, so a search for "robot navigat" will not match robot navigation. It is not necessary to place commas or the word "and" between words or phrases in a search string. As with the author search, case sensitivity is activated with the Case sensitive checkbox.

The date range fields allow you to limit a search to publications published within a given range of dates. If only one date is specified, then the other is assumed to be open ended. The format for dates is MM/YYYY, where MM is the number of the month (January=1, December=12) and YYYY is the four digit year.

Specifying a center will limit the search to publications associated with the given center or any of the labs and projects within that center. Here are some examples.
