GENERAL INFORMATION

Travel

The Robotics Institute of Carnegie Mellon University invites you to visit us on the weekend of Saturday-Monday, March 29 - 31, 2008. If you plan to attend, you must notify us by March 1.

U. S. Travel

The Robotics Institute will pay for your transportation, lodging, and meals. We request that you make your flight reservation in the form of a round-trip ticket. We will arrange for your transportation to and from the Greater Pittsburgh Airport. You will be expected to arrange your ground transportation before you leave for Pittsburgh and after you return to your destination. If you plan to drive, we will also reimburse you for all your travel expenses.

Foreign Travel

The Robotics Institute will pay a maximum of $800 for your plane ticket. The Robotics Institute will also pay for your lodging as well as your meals. We request that you be responsible for making your flight reservation and that it be in the form of a round-trip ticket. We will arrange for your transportation to and from the Greater Pittsburgh Airport.

Accommodations

Several students have agreed to host you in their homes for the weekend. Your host will get in touch with you after you have confirmed your attendance with Suzanne Muth. If you would prefer to stay in a hotel, please notify Suzanne and she will make the necessary arrangements.

Meals

Most meals will be provided. Please keep your receipts for any meals you pay for and give or send to Suzanne so that you can be reimbursed.

Getting Around

A graduate student, usually your host, will be assigned to you for the weekend to make sure you get to where you need to be.

Dress

Casual. Comfortable shoes suggested on Sunday!

Weather

You may call ahead if you wish. March can be somewhat unpredictable. Generally it is still chilly, but in years past we have seen some mild temperatures at the end of March. You can check the weather forecast for the Pittsburgh area.

We hope you can visit on this weekend! We request that you arrive on Saturday, March 29 in time to make the kick-off graduate student dinner which begins at 7:00 p.m. and to schedule a return flight on Monday, March 31 after 5:00 p.m., if possible. You will need to turn in your ticket receipt by April 10, 2008, to Suzanne for reimbursement purposes.

Saturday, March 29
Afternoon arrival in Pittsburgh.
If you are arriving by air, you will be met at Pittsburgh International Airport by a current Robotics student (most likely your host).
7:00 p.m.Dinner Party with Robograds at David Silver's house

517 St James Pl. 15232 . It's a 15 - 20 minute walk from campus.

It's the corner of Ellsworth and Aiken in Shadyside.
People should not park on St James PLACE, but instead should park on Ellsworth or St James STREET.
