Abstract Submission - Deadline: May 30, 2002
Abstracts of papers must be submitted by e-mail to Stephanie Matvey, smatvey@cs.cmu.edu. Abstracts must include title, author list and affiliations, and text up to 400 words.
Author Notification
Authors will be notified of abstract acceptance by June 30, 2002.
Authors of accepted abstracts must submit full papers and will be selected either for oral or poster presentation.
Submission of Full Papers
Full papers must be received by August 1, 2002. Because of our very tight publishing schedule, we will not accept papers received after this date. This is necessary in order to have the complete symposium publication prepared and ready to hand out at the meeting.
Your paper in the form of a Portable Document File (pdf) must be sent as an e-mail attachment to Stephanie Matvey, smatvey@cs.cmu.edu by the above date. We cannot accept any other document formats.
Paper Format
Layout: The full paper must not exceed 4 pages, including title, authors, introduction, scientific part, conclusions and references. Dimensions of the text area on the page is 125 mm wide and 190 mm high.
Fonts: Times 10 must be used for the texts , Times 10 bold for the subtitles, CAPITALS TIMES 12 BOLD for the title.
Alignment: Left and right justified for the texts. Left alignment for title and subtitles. Left alignment with additional 20 mm margin for the authors.
Margins: 20 mm left and top margins. Calculate right and bottom margins in order to have your text in the dimensions mentioned above (125 mm wide and 190 mm high).
References: Full references are necessary. References must be numbered 1., 2., 3. ...
Example paper: PDF format required for submission. Papers can be created by any word processing program, but must be converted to pdf format for submission. For example, here is the LaTex source file for the example paper. If you use Microsoft Word, for example, you may output an Adobe Postscript file, and then use a popular web-based conversion service such as ps2pdf to create the pdf file.
Oral Presentation Format
Talks are of 20 minutes duration, including time for questions. An XGA (1024 x 768) computer projector, VHS (NTSC) tape player, and overhead transparency projector will be provided.
Poster Format
Posters are of any format and size which will fit on a 4 ft. high by 8 ft. wide (1.2 m x 2.4 m) bulletin board stand. Thumb tacks will be provided.
Displays, Demonstrations, and Artifacts
Symposium participants are encouraged to bring real equipment, videos, or other artifacts to the meeting. Please contact us if you plan to bring these items. Tables, electrical supply, etc. will be provided as needed. Let us know if you have other special requirements we can help you with.
